Wahab Riaz breaks silence after being ousted from top PCB posts |

Former Pakistan cricketer Wahab Riaz has responded to his exclusion from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) selection committee by taking to social media platform ‘X’ to comment on the ongoing discussions about his exclusion and the reasons behind his exclusion.

“I disagree with the statements being discussed about increasing pressure on the members of the selection committee; how can one vote dominate six? Everything is recorded in the minutes of the meeting,” Wahab wrote. “I will publish my statement this evening,” he added.

The PCB confirmed the development on Wednesday morning, saying, “It has informed Abdul Razzaq and Wahab Riaz that their services will no longer be required as part of the national selection committee.” The decision comes after Pakistan’s disappointing performance in the recently concluded ICC T20 World Cup 2024, where the team failed to progress beyond the group stage.

The PCB has also decided to relieve Wahab Riaz of his duties in the management of the national team. Riaz, who was the senior manager of the team during the tours of Ireland, England and the ICC T20 World Cup, will be replaced.

The exclusion of former cricketers Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq from the selection panel marks a significant shake-up in Pakistan cricket as the PCB seeks to overhaul its strategy after a string of poor performances.
