But it wasn’t long before the internet got the feeling that her look looked pretty “repetitive.” Many fans and fashionistas took to social media accounts to point out that Mindy’s Met Gala outfit was quite similar to the outfit worn by Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan at the 75th Cannes Film Festival in 2022.
Aishwarya wore Gaurav’s custom-made queen pink statuette on the third day of the Cannes Film Festival. The suit featured silver embroidered pleated details, a long bottom, and a seashell-like structure behind the shoulders. Talking about the inspiration behind the dress, Gupta said that it was “inspired by the birth of Venus, the goddess of beauty and love.”

Similar styles were also worn by singers Cardi B., Shakira And Beyonce.

This year’s Met Gala dress code, “The Garden of Time,” takes its cue from JG Ballard’s 1962 short story of the same name; this story dovetails nicely with the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute’s latest exhibition, Sleeping Beauties: Fashion Reawakening. It opens to the public on Friday, May 10, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
